Registered Nurse (RN) – Observation Unit

Location: Chandler, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Observation unit with 16 beds, functioning as an extension of the Emergency Room (ER)
• Common patient diagnoses include chest pain rule-out MI, post heart catheterization (no sheaths), stable pre-CABG, post interventional radiology and endovascular procedures
• Medications commonly administered: non-titration Amiodarone, Cardizem, Labetalol
• No ventilators, BiPAP, or CPAP on unit
• Hospitalist covers call; Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on site
• Nurse aides (PCTs) staffed per census for primary care
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7
• Floating required to telemetry and med/surg floors, including a sister facility
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Scheduling

• Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend
• Holiday shifts rotate with core staff
• Scrub color: Navy

Additional Notes

• No patients with alcohol withdrawal unless 3 days out from last episode
• Every other week or every 3rd week scheduling pattern
• This position requires flexibility to float to other units and facilities as needed
