Assignment Details

13-week contract
22 private rooms
Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
Weekends and holidays as scheduled
Charge nurse may have 2-4 patients
Portable telemetry packs are used

Required Qualifications

BLS (AHA)
Strong Neuro experience
This unit does not require stepdown RNs

Patient Population / Unit Focus

Long Term Antibiotics
Common diagnoses include infections such as endocarditis, abscesses, septic arthritis, sepsis, osteomyelitis, and diabetic foot infections
Many patients have underlying substance use histories

Orientation

1-2 shifts with a preceptor
Standard orientation documentation is provided for job-specific duties, department orientation, and POCT validations

Notes

Nurses do not read or interpret strips
Titration is only done by physician orders in a step-down setting, with some protocols allowing titration and unit education provided
