Unit Information

Number of trucks: 14 (peak)
Number of staff: 110
Shift staffing:
- Day Shift: 8 CCT/ALS/BLS paramedics, 1 wheelchair transport
- Mid-Shift: 6 CCT/ALS/BLS paramedics, 1 wheelchair transport
- Night Shift: 7 CCT/ALS/BLS paramedics, 1 wheelchair transport
Patient ratio: 1 patient per transport
Types of service provided: Wheelchair, Behavioral Health, BLS, ALS, Critical Care
Equipment used: Zoll Cardiac Monitors, Baxter & Alaris IV Pumps
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: ESO

Job Responsibilities

Perform IV insertion
Administer medications
Transport patients including behavioral health and wheelchair van transports as needed

Required Qualifications

Valid EMT / ER Technician license in North Carolina
Minimum 2 years of EMT / ER Technician experience, including experience within the last year
Paramedic experience
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PHTLS or ITLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support / International Trauma Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
At least 2 years of satisfactory driving experience to meet established insurance guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

Boarded with Buncombe County Medical Director
Bachelor’s degree in EMS
National Registry certification

Work Environment & Additional Information

Flexible and friendly personality preferred
Uniform provided
Floating assignments may include Behavioral Health Transport, wheelchair van, or BLS van depending on daily staffing and transport needs
Scheduled for one weekend per month on call
