Registered Nurse (RN) - Nephrology Travel Position
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level III trauma center with 198 beds
- Nephrology unit is an extension of the Med/Surg units
- Unit has 24 beds, serving geriatric and adult patient populations
- Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6
- Equipment includes VS machines, bladder scanners, lifts, thermal imaging, IV pumps/tubes
- Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
- Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Weekend requirement: Minimum 2 weekend shifts per month
- Call: None required
- Float: As needed per facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Nephrology experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
- Observation unit experience is a plus
Common Diagnoses & Treatments
- End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Peritoneal Dialysis
- Hemodialysis
Additional Information
- Position requires working in a scenic region with access to outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing
- No call requirements
- Position supports a 36-hour workweek with day shifts and weekend coverage

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
