Job Opportunity: Nurse Manager – Cath Lab/ICU Nurse Manager

Location: Garden City, Kansas
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Summary

This role oversees both the Cath Lab and ICU departments. Candidates must have experience with both Cath Lab and ICU settings.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• 3 years RN experience (minimum)
• 1 year clinical leadership experience (minimum)
• 1 year management experience (minimum)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) via CCI
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC
  • CRRT competency
• Fluoro license for technical staff
• Ability to titrate drips (RNs required to titrate drips)

Experience & Skills

• Experience managing both Cath Lab and ICU units
• Critical care and telemetry experience
• Leadership skills to enhance nursing competency and build culture
• Familiarity with moderate sedation and bedside procedure support

Unit Details

• Cath Lab: 1 Cath Lab Room with 3 pre/post bays
• ICU: 8 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Cath Lab: 3-4 staff per case (RN/Tech)
  • ICU: 1:2 up to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Common patient diagnoses:

  • Cath Lab: Cardiac, Vascular, Electrophysiology (EP), Interventional Radiology (IR), Non-invasive Cardiology
  • ICU: Cardiac and respiratory conditions including Sepsis, DKA, Non-STEMI, STEMI, COPD exacerbation, CKD

Common Medications & Drips

• Cath Lab: All vasoactive drugs, Heparin, IIbIIIa inhibitors, blood products
• ICU: Levophed, Vasopressin, Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, Versed, Propofol, Fentanyl, Nimbex, Insulin

Equipment & Monitoring

• Cath Lab: Oxygen, End Tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators
• ICU: Ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen
• All staff read cardiac strips and monitor patients intra-procedurally and post-procedure; ICU nurses monitor their own patients and confirm strips every 4 hours

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Self-scheduling allowed
• Elective cases Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Call required 24/7, including weekends and holidays
• Charge nurse expected to take patient assignments but preferably not
• Floating required for all staff except charge nurse
• Dress code: Hospital-laundered scrubs

• Orientation varies by role
• Cath Lab pre/post procedure area has 3 bays requiring 2 ACLS-certified RNs
• 8-hour day shifts Monday-Friday with on-call as needed
