Family Birthing Center (L/D & Mother Baby) RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Labor and Delivery RN in Sacramento, California.
• Contract length: 14 weeks.
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license.
• 2 years of L&D experience.
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• NRP
• Advanced AWHONN / Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Must be able to circulate C-sections.

Unit Details

• Family Birthing Center
• 13 L&D beds and 9 Mother Baby beds
• 2 OR suites
• Cerner EMR

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Weekend requirement: Days every 3rd; Nights every other.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• No call for travelers.
• First to float.
• Floor orientation: 2-3 depending on skill set.
• Extra shifts are available.

Float Scope

• May float to Mother Baby or level 1 nursery if the traveler has experience.

Clinical Setting

• Standard labor and high-risk patients.
• OB triage for patients 20 weeks or greater; patients under 20 weeks go to the ER for evaluation.
• 90-100 births per month.

Additional Notes

• Charge nurse takes patients if necessary.
• Nurse aides: No.
• Tele: No.
• Vents: No.
• OB physicians and anesthesia are in house 24/7.
• IV team available if necessary.
• RT 24/7: Yes.
• Pharmacy 24/7: Yes.
• Scrub color provided.
