Med Surg/Tele - RN

Overview

• Registered Nurse role in Med Surg/Tele.
• Location: Ringgold, Georgia.
• Facility: Memorial Hospital.
• Shift: Nights.
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Contract length: 12 weeks.

Unit Details

• GA Unit 2 & 3.
• Unit 2 has 24 beds.
• Unit 3 has 32 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights.

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification.
• Telemetry/rhythm interpretation.
• RN must be able to titrate Cardizem and amiodarone.
• RN must read their own rhythm strips and confirm what the CMU placed in the chart.

Preferred

• ACLS certification.

Patient Population

• All types of patients, including respiratory, observation pending stress test, COPD, CIWA, and chest pain.

Staffing and Support

• Charge nurse may be out of staffing or take an assignment.
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are available and help with feeding, blood glucose checks, bathing, toileting, and labs.
• Respiratory support is available for equipment issues.
• Tele monitor tech support is virtual; GE monitors are used.

Scheduling and Logistics

• Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks.
• Holiday coverage follows A, B, C team rotation.
• Travelers are typically not placed on call.
• Floating is required to all 3 campuses.
• Scrubs: navy blue.
• Orientation: 3 shifts, one on each campus.
• Block scheduling requests for nights may be accommodated, including 3 in a row.
