Radiation Oncology RN - Nursing (Contract)

Location: Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care specifically in Radiation Oncology (not general Medical Oncology).
  • Collaborate with the Radiation Oncology Team to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
  • Assess and intervene for actual or potential patient problems related to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Emphasize patient and family teaching, counseling, and support to help cope with cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Assist Radiation Oncologists in patient evaluation and examination.
  • Act as liaison between Radiation Oncology and other hospitals, departments, physician groups, and support organizations.
  • Provide referrals for recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services.

Schedule

  • Work 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (4-10's), weekdays only.
  • Approximately 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience.
  • Oncology nursing experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Ability to coordinate oncology patient care with interdisciplinary staff.
  • Highly organized and flexible.
  • Knowledge of care for patients across various age groups, developmental stages, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of chronic illness and comorbidity management.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of trends, skills, procedures, and protocols in hematology/oncology and internal medicine.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based oncology, immunology, pharmacology, community health, and cultural sensitivity.

Additional Requirements

  • Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 75 miles from the facility location (Radius Rule).
  • Compliance with state-specific CAPS registration requirements may be necessary (can take up to two weeks to obtain).

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is required for this position.
  • Must submit resume, skills sheet, BLS, ACLS, and nursing license for application.
