- Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- 4 days per week
- No call, no weekends, no holidays
- Overtime available
Job Description
- Provide technical assistance as a surgical (scrub) technician in operating rooms, labor and delivery, or other surgical procedure areas.
- Prepare the operating room using Physician’s preference cards.
- Set up sterile fields by opening instruments and supplies using sterile technique.
- Perform surgical scrub prior to patient arrival.
- Assist physician in draping the patient and preparing the operative field.
- Preserve and correctly identify operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Obtain and ensure proper functioning of special equipment (e.g., electrosurgical machines, diagnostic lights).
- Assist the surgeon by manipulating instruments to improve efficiency and patient safety.
- Monitor surgery progress and provide additional instruments or supplies as needed.
- Recognize and correct breaks in sterile technique.
- Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as directed.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operating room areas; dispose of soiled linen.
- Assist in training other surgical technicians.
- If assigned to Labor and Delivery, may perform clerical and direct patient care activities.
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Ophthalmology experience.
