Required Qualifications

Medical Lab Scientist experience within the last year
1 year of experience as a Medical Lab Scientist
MLS(ASCP) or MLS(AMT)
Master's or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology

Job Responsibilities

Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing according to CLIA ‘88 guidelines
Interprets and reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of these fields: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Blood Bank, or Microbiology
Performs quality control, quality assurance, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Provides oversight of clinical processes for Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Aides
May include clerical tasks and related laboratory services
Follows specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and recordkeeping procedures
Communicates critical lab values and other pertinent information to physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff according to policy
Assists with training of new associates and students
Completes annual competency validations, mandatory safety programs, and continuing education opportunities
Follows safety and infection control policies, including use of appropriate PPE and safety practices
