Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Shift: Night (3x12 or 4x12 hours), 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, weekdays, every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

26-bed unit specializing in CVA, TBI, epidural and subdural hematoma, seizure disorders, spinal cord injuries, and epilepsy monitoring (EMU)
Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
Float within scope to meet facility needs
Orientation held every other week on Thursday and Friday (2 days)
Charting system: Cerner
Scrub colors: Royal Blue or White
Parking: Free for travelers

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in West Virginia
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, with experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Valid Driver’s License

Schedule & Work Conditions

3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM)
Every other weekend required
36 hours guaranteed per week
Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
Floating within scope as needed
100-mile radius rule for travel assignments (75-99 miles require facility approval)

Additional Notes

First-time travelers accepted
Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this facility
Flu vaccine refusal without medical proof is not accepted during flu season
Candidate must provide a valid driver’s license and social security card (or proof of request for SS card)
Candidate profile must include work history, specialty skills checklist, minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references (within 2 years), RN license verification, driver’s license, and social security card
Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 855 staffed beds
