Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Night shift, 4x10 hour shifts (20:30 - 07:00)
- Schedule: Rotating shift start times as needed; primarily Monday-Friday with 3-4 weekday and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, per call policy
- On-Call: No call required for night shift
- Floating: May float within service line as needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)

Job Description
- Scrub and circulate experience required for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
- Primary cases include cardiac, thoracic, vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures
- Must be able to work in a Level 1 trauma facility environment
- BSN preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Scrub experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical cases
Required Compliance and Documentation
- Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches, sex offender registry, and international searches if applicable
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
- Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Facility-specific documents including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
- Orientation modules completion (approximately 16 hours)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Vehicle registration form if working day shifts
Additional Requirements
- Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia or equivalent)
- Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, within last year if possible)
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
- May be required to complete additional certifications depending on unit assignment (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course if extending beyond 9 months in certain units)

- First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 2 years of experience in a Level 1 trauma facility
- No local candidates accepted; must live at least 75 miles away from the facility
- No block scheduling available
