Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Sacramento, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Work Setting: Outpatient oncology clinic, Adult Stem Cell Transplant Program


Job Description

  • Serve as a Case Manager in a clinic setting.
  • Collaborate with authorization department and multiple departments to schedule appointments.
  • Manage new patient referrals.
  • Respond to patient messages via electronic health record system.
  • Patient population includes diagnoses such as leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and stem cell transplant recipients.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license/state ID (clear, legible copy required).
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start.
  • E-Verify compliance.
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam cleared within one year of start.
  • Fit testing for N95 masks within one year of start (onsite fit testing may be available if prior testing is not possible).
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted).
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or two vaccines after age 1; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or two vaccines after age 1; booster if needed.
    • Hepatitis B titer required; if negative, signed declination or vaccine series accepted.
  • TB screening: Negative QuantiFERON Gold or TSPOT within 90 days or two-step PPD as per protocol; if positive history, chest x-ray and questionnaire required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required by November 1.
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams and core training modules prior to start.
  • Signed confidentiality statement and HIPAA training confirmation required before start.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
  • Badge pickup required prior to orientation during business hours.

References and Employment History

  • Two clinical references required, including one from the most recent or recent employer within 6 months.
  • Employment application covering the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 6 months.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required training and compliance documentation before the start date unless extenuating circumstances are approved.
  • Badge pickup location and hours will be communicated; candidates must bring a valid photo ID.
  • This position involves working with complex oncology patients in a multidisciplinary environment.
