Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health LVN / LPN
Location: Sacramento, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work with adult inpatient psychiatric patients presenting diagnoses such as ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum, Eating Disorder, PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Major Depressive Disorder, Psychotic Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
- Patient population may include individuals with substance abuse disorder, alcohol or opiate withdrawal (usually stable on admission), hypertension, diabetes, geriatric patients at high fall risk, patients in pain, and occasionally patients with wounds.
- Use electronic patient rounding tools and Rover system for documentation (pictures, vital signs, food intake).
- Utilize ObservSmart equipment.
Shift Details
- Evening shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
- 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (40 hours/week)
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN / LVN license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of LPN / LVN experience, with experience within the last year.
- Behavioral Health experience.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Certification in Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), MOAB, Handle With Care, or ProAct.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum years of experience in LVN / LPN specialty: Not explicitly stated, but recent inpatient psychiatric experience is preferred.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.

- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; employment verification required.
- Two professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client).
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually; negative TB test or chest x-ray as required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for failed tests or religious exemptions).
- Immunizations and/or titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April). Medical or religious exemptions considered with proper documentation.
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually.
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only).
Certifications and Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG may be required depending on unit.
