Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Float (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 24 weeks (preferred)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Description
- Immediate start with minimal return-to-office requirements
- Weekly orientation provided
- Shorter contracts accepted but preference for 24 weeks
- Unit cares for patients in Infectious Disease, Hospice/Palliative Care, Oncology, Cardiac Acute/Med Care, Post-Surgical, Bariatric, Urology, Neurology, Orthopedics
- Required to float to a sister facility approximately 25 minutes away (lower acuity)
- Weekend coverage required: 12 weekend shifts per contract, every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross only
- CPI or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification (one required)
- Pass/Fail Testing: EKG assessment and medication/pharmacology competency exam (passing score 80%+) required during orientation
- HIPAA competency with annual renewal and passing score of 80%+
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for MS/Tele and other specified units
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
- Full Tdap vaccine within past 10 years (declinations allowed except for pediatric and maternity units)
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start; if positive, chest x-ray within 1 year showing no active TB
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (declinations not accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form within past year
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
- 12-panel drug test within 30 days of start (must be started within 72 hours of booking)
- Background check including 7-year history, Pima County AZ search, OFAC, National Sex Offender, and all states/counties lived/worked; must be completed before start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
Documentation & History
- Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Two professional references from employment within last 3 years, including one supervisory reference
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Facility-specific job description and orientation sign-offs required
Additional Notes
- No first-time travelers or local hires accepted for this assignment
- Floating includes coverage at a sister facility with lower acuity patients
- Candidates must sign a traveler welcome letter prior to start
- Orientation includes an open book EKG test and pass/fail medication testing with remediation and retesting if needed; failure may result in contract review or cancellation
This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs comfortable with floating and working night shifts in a diverse patient care environment.
