Stepdown Cardiac RN

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Manchester, New Hampshire
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 13-week contract
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• No Thanksgiving RTO

Role focus

• Assigned to the ED unit to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED
• Strong PCU background within the last year is required
• ED experience is preferred but not required
• First-time travelers are accepted only with 2 years of experience and EPIC experience

Required qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Hampshire
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIHSS
• Experience managing and titrating intravenous drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
• ED - Emergency Department experience
• Experience with Epic

Unit details

• Common patient types include chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, and overflow medical/surgical/trauma/oncology/orthopedic cases
• Also sees post-cath with stent only, ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
• Uses BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Phillips monitoring system

Work expectations

• Floating to similar units may be expected
• Team nursing / helping hands approach is used
• Patient sitting may be part of the assignment
