Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 to 7:15)
- Patient Ratios: Up to 6:1
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to med/surg and telemetry units as assigned
- Scheduling: Facility may consider alternating 36/48 hour shifts or straight 48-hour shifts
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior travel nursing experience
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SS Trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Fit test for approved N-95 masks within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not accepted)
- Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
- TDAP or TD vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual TB questionnaire for positive responders)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declination submitted
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
Documentation and Training
- Employment application or resume required
- Two professional references within 3 years
- Annual skills checklist and orientation/safety training modules completion required
- Facility-specific documents including standards of conduct, dress code, standards of behavior, HIPAA and fair warning quizzes, and orientation acknowledgments must be completed and updated if there is a gap of more than 30 days between assignments
- Annual TB questionnaire and background check updates required
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for RNs
Additional Notes
- Candidate must complete all required facility-specific forms prior to start
- Time-sensitive requirements (e.g., physical exam, immunizations, drug testing) must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Facility will not accept PAPR masks; failure to pass fit test may result in inability to work
- Pharmacology exam is given onsite at orientation with up to 3 attempts allowed
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs comfortable working night shifts in a medical-surgical and telemetry environment with a strong emphasis on compliance and certification maintenance.
