Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Work Areas: 7N Med/Surg, Oncology, Telemetry, Progressive Care (High acuity)
  • Patient Population: Hematology-oncology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, medical/surgical patients
  • Float Requirement: Must be able to float to other care areas including Med/Surg and Med/Surg Telemetry patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of hematology/oncology experience within the last year
  • Bone marrow transplant experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ONS Biotherapy Certification or ONS Immunotherapy Certification
  • EKG exam competency
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Negative drug screen within 12 months of start
  • TB testing (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
  • COVID vaccination series preferred
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing (fit testing completed onsite during orientation)
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Background check including criminal history and state-specific registry checks required prior to start

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and checklists required prior to or during orientation
  • Additional online training required for ICU/CCU or Cath Lab candidates (not applicable for this role)
  • Fit mask testing and respirator fit test completed onsite during first week of orientation

Additional Notes

  • Two professional references required for new candidates
  • Skills checklist required
  • Candidates must review and sign confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct agreements prior to start
  • Photo for badge required (passport style with plain background)

This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with bone marrow transplant experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity setting and have the required certifications and skills.
