Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry) - Nights

Location: Middletown, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry RN for night shifts in a hospital setting. The role requires working 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend, with a total of 36 hours per week. Overtime is paid after 48 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current Connecticut RN license
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required (not suitable for first-time travelers)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is mandatory
• Must be able to work every other weekend, including Sundays
• Must be willing to work 48-hour weeks when needed
• No local travelers allowed (must live more than 50 miles away)

Work Environment & Unit Details

• Unit: Medical North 4 (26 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Nights 1:7-8
• Charge nurse shared with adjacent unit
• Nurse aides available (ratio 1:8)
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory therapists available 24/7; nurses perform respiratory treatments
• IV team available 7 AM – 8:30 PM; nurse resource available 7 PM – 7 AM for IV support
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Common patient diagnoses: General medical conditions
• Ventilation support limited to CPAP at night only

Scheduling & Shift Details

• Shift length: 12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• 36 hours per week, with overtime after 48 hours
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Lunch breaks are unpaid
• No blocked schedules available
• Orientation includes 2 shifts on the specific floor

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have an accurate and up-to-date profile
• Cannot hold another job while on this assignment
• Must be able to start on designated orientation dates
• Minimal return-to-office (RTO) allowed, with no RTO in the first two weeks
• Scrub color: Caribbean blue top layer; black or Caribbean blue pants; black and white shirts allowed underneath uniform top layer

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, weekend work, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment with EPIC system proficiency.
