Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Operating Room (41 ORs), Level 1 Trauma Center
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional floats to 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM starts, and up to 3 night shifts per contract
• Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed (approximately 6 on-call shifts per 8-week period)
• Float within scope to other Operating Rooms at the facility may be required
• Case Types: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
• Patient Ratio: 1:1

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Time Off and Scheduling Notes

• Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
• RTO not allowed during these blackout periods in 2026:

  • June 28 – July 9
  • September 2 – September 12
  • October 25 – November 4
• Candidates who have completed a full year on assignment at this facility will not be rebooked for at least one year

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
• E-Verify or attestation documentation
• Proof of legal name change if applicable
• Background Checks (within 60 days of start):

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education Verification: 3rd party verification or transcript/diploma acceptable
• NURSYS verification for RN license (within 60 days of start)
• Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA (not Chiropractor)
• Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved masks required)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if positive
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
• Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
• COVID-19 vaccination proof or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
• Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)

Competency and Training Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually) for ICU/ER/Neuro units
• Core competency exams Parts I, II, III (updated annually)
• OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)
• Facility-specific new employee orientation modules to be completed within first two weeks of assignment

References and Employment History

• Two professional references from the last two years required, including one from employment within the last year (must be from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above)
• Employment history verification for the last 3 years required, including explanation of any gaps over 30 days
• Employment application with current contact information required

• Candidates living less than 75 miles from the facility may have local considerations (not pay-related)
• Candidates must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of assignment start to avoid clearance issues
