Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit Type: High acuity, high volume Emergency Room (combined Adult/Pediatrics)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Meal Break: 30-minute lunch required, no skipped meals

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year recent ER experience required
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred (not required)
• Skills include:

  • Blood Product Administration
  • Central Line Care/Management
  • IV Starts, Continuous IV Sedation, IV Vasopressors
  • Procedural Sedation Administration
  • Ortho-Trauma care
  • Identifying & Reporting Pediatric Abuse
  • Managing Pediatric Near Drowning, Respiratory Infections, and Seizures

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) required
• ACLS and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC)
• CPI and TNCC certifications preferred

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Proficient in Blood Product Administration
• Skilled in Central Line Care and Management
• Experienced in Continuous IV Sedation
• Experienced in Procedural Sedation Administration

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
• Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD) within past 12 months; follow-up chest X-ray if positive
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required year-round; mask required if declined

Background & Documentation

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required (including all aliases)
• Education verification (official transcript, diploma, or 3rd party verification)
• Primary source verification of state license and national certification (NURSYS) prior to start
• Review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start

• Locals within a 60-mile radius considered
• 30-minute lunch break strictly enforced; no skipped meals allowed
