Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: New Port Richey, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse with skilled home care experience (private duty nursing experience only will not be accepted). The role involves providing skilled home health care with OASIS training and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skilled home health visits (6-8 visits per day)
  • Cardiopulmonary assessment
  • Basic wound care including ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing, Pleurx/Aseptdrain care
  • Foley catheter change and care
  • Staple/suture removal
  • Use of glucometer and pro-time machine
  • SQ/IM injections and lab draw venipuncture
  • IV skills including PICC line or Midline care and dressing changes
  • SQ port access/deaccess
  • Care for patients with general medical diagnoses and high-risk diagnoses such as heart failure, COPD, MI, pneumonia, and stroke
  • Post-operative care

Work Schedule:

  • Day/shift hours vary based on HomeCare office needs
  • Typical shifts: Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM
  • Possible shifts Thursday-Monday or Friday-Tuesday
  • Alternating weekend shifts
  • Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on office needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of home health nursing experience within the last year
  • Experience working in a home care and home health setting
  • Experience caring for high-risk patients
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Proficient IV skills
  • Wound care experience
  • OASIS training and experience

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (if applicable)
  • Other certifications as applicable based on unit requirements
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (if applicable)
  • Stroke education CEUs required for relevant units
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) may be required for behavioral health or ER roles (not primary for this role)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background check within 1 year of start date, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification
  • AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Florida-specific)
  • Education verification required (transcript or diploma)
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was completed outside the US or Puerto Rico
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (or chest X-ray if prior positive PPD)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required

Additional Requirements

  • Professional photo for badge prior to start
  • Personal auto insurance required and must be current during assignment
  • Completion of required online training modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
  • References: 2 professional references from within the past 2 years
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted

Notes

  • Scrubs: Any solid color scrub
  • Laptop, MiFi, and portable printers provided for documentation
  • Documentation systems include electronic health records and scheduling software
  • Mask wearing is mandatory if flu shot is declined
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role
