Job Opportunity: Pediatric Echo Tech
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Echocardiography (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Typical daily caseload: 4-10 patients per tech
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with staggered start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Floating between multiple locations within the local area (up to 60 miles radius)
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients in echocardiography
- Proficiency in pediatric echocardiography, including complex congenital heart defects
- Registered Pediatric Sonographer credential required:
- ARDMS with PE certification or
- CCI with RCCS certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (AHA or ARC) required for all clinical staff
- PALS required for pediatric units
- NRP certification must be current and through AHA/AAP
- Fit test for N95 mask required within 90 days prior to start and renewed annually
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or appropriate follow-up if positive
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Background checks including 7-year history and various federal/state registries required
- Education verification and clinical references required
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required prior to start
- Emergency response team participation expected during hurricane season (June-November)
