Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Role: MRI Technologist at Rutledge Tower
  • Shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from 7 AM to 5 PM
  • Holiday Work: Required if holidays fall on scheduled shifts
  • Overtime: Available
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
  • Daily Caseload: Varies

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Siemens MRI experience required
  • Preferred: Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
    • MR (ARRT) or ARMRIT certification
  • Radiation badge not required for MRI Techs

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Required searches include SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Licensure & Certifications

  • State license verification required (SC license or compact licensure)
  • Primary source verification showing active, unencumbered license with no pending actions
  • NURSYS verification for applicable licenses (RNs, LPNs)
  • Do not accept certifications expiring within 30 days of start; renewals or scheduled courses required prior to start

Health & Safety

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates required
  • Fit test for N95 mask (specific models) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), with medical/religious exemptions accepted (no declinations)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Color blindness test required prior to start
  • Competency exam required; pediatric OR candidates may use regular OR competency exam if no pediatric experience

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
  • Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • All required documents must be submitted and approved prior to start
  • Facility uses Epic for charting and requires adherence to their policies and procedures

This position offers a structured schedule with a reputable teaching hospital and requires specific certifications and compliance with detailed health and background documentation. Ideal candidates will have Siemens MRI experience and be comfortable working in a Level 1 Trauma environment.
