Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Must be comfortable with potential emergency team assignments, requiring staying at the facility during emergency events or serving on relief teams as assigned by the unit manager.
- Work hours: 0615 - 1845 (D10 shift)
- On-call requirement
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers. Prior travel experience is required.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience, specifically:
- 3 years minimum cardiovascular (CVOR) experience OR circulator experience
- Highly proficient in cardiovascular cases
- Ability to work in robotics, general surgery, and other similar service lines if cardiac cases are unavailable
- EPIC experience required
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or Compact License, effective immediately upon submission
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy required)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted; must be current or renewed prior to start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted; must be current or renewed prior to start
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification of highest level completed (if applicable)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series
- Hepatitis B: positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, or booster after negative titer; declination allowed if signed within 1 year
- Varicella: positive IGG titer, completed vaccine series, or booster after negative titer
- Tdap vaccine (required for certain units)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)
- Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually
- Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have prior travel experience; first-time travelers will not be considered.
- Emergency preparedness and willingness to participate in emergency response teams is mandatory.
- Candidates should be prepared for on-call duties and flexible assignment within cardiovascular and related surgical service lines.
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong cardiovascular surgical skills and prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with emergency response roles.
