Overview

• Travel/contract role in Valencia, California
• Inpatient PACU/Preop Day RN needed
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (1 year of experience)
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with Cardiac patients
• Experience working with Spine patients
• Experience working with Urinary patients
• Experience working with Podiatry patients
• Endo/Laparoscopic
• ENT
• Gyn
• Ophthalmology
• Ortho/Spine

Schedule / Assignment Details

• Call and weekend required
• About every other or every third weekend
• About 3 call shifts per 6-week schedule period
• No blocked scheduling
• RTO must be submitted up front
• Majority of patients are low acuity

Float Scope

• Floating required to PAT, MAIN PACU, and GI Lab

Clinical Skills / Experience

• PACU: Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, Pre-Post
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, General, Gyn, Ophthalmology, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, Plastics, Podiatry, Urology
• Cardiac arrest/CPR, cardioversion, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics
• Procedural sedation administration/monitoring, reversal agents, hypothermia protocol, stroke scale
• Accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs
• Management of pediatric patients
• Airway assessment, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, extubation LMA/ET, intubation, placement of oral/nasal airways
• Conscious sedation, local, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), nerve blocks
• Discharge instructions, follow-up phone calls, medication reconciliation
• Obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG, obtain operative/procedural consent
• Pre/post endoscopy procedures, pre/post operative procedures, pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications, review history and physical
• Straight urinary catheterization, female and male
• Interpretation and communication of lab values
• Malignant hyperthermia protocol
• Pain assessment and management
• RASS (Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale)
