Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the surgical unit's scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to surgical nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions based on continuous evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
Identify personal learning needs and take initiative for professional growth.
Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients, including:
- Monitoring and caring for newly placed tracheostomies
- Managing wounds requiring wound vacs and complex wound care
- Assessing, managing, and educating patients and families on new ostomies
Collaborate with surgical and oral maxillofacial surgery residency services.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
Illinois state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
