Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per day
- Typical shift times:
- Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 8:15 AM – 6:45 PM
- Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- On-call required after department closes until it reopens (approximately 7 on-call days per month)
- On-call shifts are generally not very busy
Position Summary
Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Operate state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras, probes, computer systems, film processors, survey meters, and other technical supportive devices.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine license in Oregon
- Minimum 5 years of Nuclear Medicine experience, including experience within the last year
- Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid driver’s license or state ID (passport acceptable if no driver’s license)
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- Physical exam within one year of start
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella antibody titers or vaccinations with boosters or declinations as needed
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (year-round)
- Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (unless exempt)
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start
- Completion of required Healthstream modules by due date
- References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
Additional Information
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit (if applicable)
- Competency exams required with passing scores (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG)
- Background checks and certifications must be kept current and renewed as required
- Training and certifications may be reimbursed or supported by the agency
