Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position requires working every other weekend and floating to different units as needed.
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted.
• Active role involving ambulating, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses is routine.
• Facility operates 24/7, requiring rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather.
• Must be able to:

  • Work full contract term at assigned location
  • Work substantial portion of assigned shifts
  • Take call
  • Work assigned weekends
  • Work at least 50% of holidays during contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Must meet physical demands including ambulating and lifting/moving objects over 20 lbs.
• Exposure to contagious illnesses is expected.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 60 days of start, including alias search, counties lived/worked/school, federal and national criminal searches, sex offender search, social security trace, and exclusions screening (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
• International background check required if candidate has traveled outside the USA in the last 7 years.
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Missouri Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days of start; candidate cannot start with both pending.
• Photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, initiated within 48 hours of signing.
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray required for positive TB history.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series or positive titer required; declinations no longer accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or approved exemption
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
• Fit mask test (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205) within 1 year required.
• Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days, including education details.
• Two professional references within last 2 years required.
• NURSYS verification of RN license within 60 days of start.
• Completion of facility-specific new hire paperwork, including confidentiality agreement and access forms, within 60 days.
• Photo for badge required for new candidates only (forward-facing, neutral background).

Additional Notes

• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and competency exams as applicable.
• Floating to other units is mandatory.
• Must be able to work assigned call and holiday schedules.
• Candidate must be able to start promptly and comply with all credentialing and compliance deadlines.
