Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Work an 8-hour day shift; start dates may vary.
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in California.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification: NMTCB or ARRT (N).

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • CT license preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent credentials.

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA certified, original card required at orientation.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA certified preferred.
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry Exam required on first day for applicable units.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with a passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam with a passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Core Parts I, II, and III training with passing scores, completed within one year prior to start and updated annually.
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including specific county and nationwide searches.
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript.
  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start; must be re-run every 2 years.
  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment.
  • Current and updated resume covering the last 7 years; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician’s statement of fitness to work.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start; specific approved mask types required.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted except medical exemptions).
  • Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start, or chest X-ray if positive TB history.
  • Annual TB questionnaire within 30 days of start.
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April).
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of parking and uniform information acknowledgment prior to start.
  • Review and initial COVID-19 preparedness update.
  • Completion of annual cybersecurity awareness training and quiz.
  • Completion of learning modules assigned through the facility’s learning management system.
  • Emergency contact information must be provided.
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies on HIPAA and confidentiality agreements.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for pass/fail exams on medication and telemetry during orientation.
  • Floating to other facilities within the system may be required.
  • Background checks and verifications must be current and approved prior to start.
