Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 48
- Floating: Required to float to NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units as needed. Must comply with float expectations and will receive appropriate assignments in these areas.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatrics CVICU experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in supervisory roles
Certifications
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU nurses.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Sex offender search and various Ohio state-specific registry searches required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required, including official transcripts if in-house verification is incomplete.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually) required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (no longer required to submit copy; must sign Infection Control Policy).
- TB testing: Two-step PPD or IGRA within 12 months; additional requirements if positive. TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if negative/equivocal.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if negative/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: Declination, completed vaccine series, or positive titer required.
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually; specific mask models accepted. Onsite fit testing allowed if prior testing not completed before start.
Additional Notes
- Legal name on all documents must match RN license exactly; no nicknames or aliases.
- Current government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing; temporary IDs generally not accepted.
- Candidates with Ohio driver’s licenses must have an address more than 60 miles from the facility to avoid being considered local.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed, signed, and uploaded prior to start.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
