Job Description

13-week contract position
Experience in Chemotherapy/Oncology required
Unit types include general pediatrics, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, and surgical
Must have general pediatrics experience
Will float to PICU and NICU for appropriate assignments; additional float units possible based on skill set and hospital needs
Schedule includes every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
Patient ratio approximately 1:5
Charting system: EPIC
Scrub color: Navy
First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
Minimum 1.5 years of pediatrics nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Experience working with pediatric patients
Oncology experience
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification
IV Certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Pros

Unit is traveler friendly. Multiple RNs to a room for day shift. Must be a strong, well rounded circulator cases vary greatly. If you're in the room you most likely are the senior nurse.

Cons

If you hate precepting, this is not the place for you.
