Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Seattle, Washington

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (2100-0730)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: No call required
  • Floating: Within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
  • Block schedule accommodation: Not available
  • Locals accepted
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: 1 week max
  • Patient Population: Orthopedic sports (limited total joints), minimally invasive arthroscopic and laparoscopic cases, Robotics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics
  • Environment: Very busy, high acuity academic setting
  • Average daily census: 50-75 patients, 28 operating rooms
  • Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided)
  • Charting system: EPIC

Job Description

  • Role: Circulator RN in the Operating Room (OR)
  • Must be willing to circulate all cases; this position is for circulator only
  • Strong neuro experience required; experience with cardiac and transplant cases preferred
  • Preferred experience in multiple service lines such as Cardiac and Robotic surgery
  • May be required to perform charge nurse duties
  • Weekend requirement: To be determined
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) circulator experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Neurology experience
  • Cardiology experience
  • Transplant experience

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications may be required per unit job description (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (minimum 80% in dosage calculations)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (refer to unit specifics)
  • Conscious Sedation competency exam required if working in GI Lab/Endoscopy

Compliance & Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start, including nationwide and sex offender searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification required (diploma/transcript acceptable for RNs)
  • State-specific background checks per Washington State requirements (WATCH search)
  • Social Security card required if used on I9

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam signed by a physician within 1 year of start (required by agency)
  • Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (3M N95 preferred; PAPR available onsite if needed)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination allowed with documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (declinations allowed with documentation)
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccine series and positive titer or declination with waiver
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; history of disease not accepted at this facility
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination required during flu season (Sept-April)
  • COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
  • 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (required by agency, not facility)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • EPIC/Alaris integration video must be watched with attestation completed prior to start
  • Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies) due Monday prior to start
  • Various facility agreements and checklists must be signed prior to start
  • WA License Complaint Clearance required for all using WA State License (not required for compact licenses)
  • Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington (6-hour course)
  • Demographic attestation required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington

Additional Information

  • Performance evaluation requested at end of assignment (for this location only)
  • No radiation badges provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed
  • Parking cost approximately $10.26 daily
