Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:6; may flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: Yes, as needed for low census
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Rapid Response teams
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be willing to travel)
• Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule accommodation may be requested but is not guaranteed
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Travel Radius: Within 60 miles of Florence, SC

Compliance & Documentation

• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
• Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; NURSYS verification for RN license
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam updated annually confirming ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive history
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; flu declinations not accepted
  • Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing roles
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
• Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers preferred (may accept attestation letters if verification not possible)

Orientation & Facility Specifics

• Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4 hours for this location
• Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required (frontal view, shoulders up, solid light background)
• Acknowledgments & Agreements: Candidates must review and sign facility-specific documents including assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, and HIPAA confidentiality agreement before starting
• Parking: Free parking available

Important Notes

• Hurricane Season: From June through November, all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams. Candidates should avoid confirming new or extension assignments during this period if this is a concern.
• Radiation Badge: Not required for this position.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required for this role.
