Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • 6S unit: blended Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Primary service lines: thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, urology, general surgery, and general medicine
  • Patient ratios:
    • MedSurg/Telemetry: 1 nurse to 5 patients
    • PCU: 1 nurse to 3 patients
  • Floating required within scope to MedSurg and MedSurg/Telemetry

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Fit testing for respirator masks required onsite during first week of orientation
  • Must be clean-shaven to pass fit testing; no exceptions for PAPRs or CAPRs allowed at this facility
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months required; chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory
  • Negative drug screen within 12 months of start required
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start

Orientation & Compliance

  • Completion of all required facility-specific training modules and orientation checklists mandatory
  • Must review and sign confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health required
  • Background check within 12 months required, including SSN trace, 7-year county residency/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search

Additional Information

  • Scrubs color: Navy Blue
  • Free onsite parking available
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry and PCU units
  • Floating to MedSurg and MedSurg/Telemetry units expected to meet facility needs

This position offers an opportunity to work in a tertiary care academic medical center with a diverse surgical and medical patient population on a blended Med/Tele and PCU unit during night shifts.
