Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer - Radiology
Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures specializing in two or more areas such as Cardiac, Vascular, or General ultrasound.
- Operate sophisticated ultrasonic imaging units and reading/reporting systems.
- Review images for identification, technique, and completeness according to modality-specific governing bodies (e.g., American Society of Echocardiography, ICAEL, SDMS, ACR, SVU, ICAVL).
- Perform invasive ultrasound procedures as applicable to specialty, including:
- Cardiac: use of approved contrast agents or agitated saline.
- General: paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsy exams.
- Vascular: line placement, thrombin injection exams.
- May be required to float to other departments within competency level.
- Expected to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period.
- Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, Tuesday to Friday, 7pm-5:30am; may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts.
- Participate in accreditation and re-accreditation processes for modalities.
- Provide training and mentorship to new staff and sonography students from CAAHEP programs.
- Perform additional duties such as equipment maintenance, checking emergency carts, and meeting all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Serve patients across all age groups: infant through geriatric.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- CPR certification upon hire; American Heart Association BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
Additional Information
- This position requires proficiency in ultrasound imaging systems and hospital computer systems.
- The role involves technical decision-making to ensure optimal sonographic image quality.
- May perform exams in ultrasound department or other hospital areas as needed.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
