Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit & Work Environment

Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), 4th floor
Location: Levinson Heart Hospital, specializing in cardiac and thoracic surgery
Unit hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Call shifts start at 3:00 PM when assigned; weekend call includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when assigned
Hospital-provided scrubs required as uniform

Job Responsibilities & Procedures

Scrubbing cardiac cases requiring bypass and related mediastinal procedures
Assisting in thoracic surgery cases including daVinci-assisted procedures
Performing open thoracotomy, VATS, ECMO initiation, and pericardial window procedures
Supporting a variety of cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, TAVR, thoracic lobectomy, wedge resections, and mediastinal lymph node biopsy

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in thoracic surgery
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Additional Notes

Advanced skills in cardiovascular OR procedures are essential
Familiarity with cardiac surgery equipment and documentation systems expected
Floating policies, patient ratios, and unit staffing details to be provided upon onboarding

This position is ideal for experienced cardiovascular OR nurses seeking a travel assignment with exposure to complex cardiac and thoracic surgical cases.

Unit is semi friendly you get floated a lot in your first month of contact you all all the supplies you need. Over time is always available

Cons

Resources for your unit some are helpful others are not. If you have to use a timesheet for your pay the CNC doesn’t like that hopefully agency can upgrade that.
