Description
Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), 4th floor
- Location: Levinson Heart Hospital, specializing in cardiac and thoracic surgery
- Unit hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Call shifts start at 3:00 PM when assigned; weekend call includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when assigned
- Hospital-provided scrubs required as uniform
Job Responsibilities & Procedures
- Scrubbing cardiac cases requiring bypass and related mediastinal procedures
- Assisting in thoracic surgery cases including daVinci-assisted procedures
- Performing open thoracotomy, VATS, ECMO initiation, and pericardial window procedures
- Supporting a variety of cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, TAVR, thoracic lobectomy, wedge resections, and mediastinal lymph node biopsy
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in thoracic surgery
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Additional Notes
- Advanced skills in cardiovascular OR procedures are essential
- Familiarity with cardiac surgery equipment and documentation systems expected
- Floating policies, patient ratios, and unit staffing details to be provided upon onboarding
