Labor & Delivery RN Travel Nurse Opportunity

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6 PM – 6 AM)
Hours: 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts)

Job Description

• Work in a regional hospital with a Labor & Delivery unit featuring:

  • 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds
  • Approximately 1-3 births per day (about 830 births per year)
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Guaranteed hours with no cancellations
• May float to Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units if experienced and needed
• Call requirement: one shift per 4-week schedule
• Must be proficient in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress
• Care for high-risk OB patients, including those with pre-eclampsia
• Handle OB emergencies independently until provider arrival (no in-house OB/Neonatologist)
• Ability to provide couplet care when census is low

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience with C-sections
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and actions taken for fetal distress
• Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia
• Clinical background in high-risk OB patients
• Proficiency with OB emergency assessment and management until provider arrival
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification

Scheduling & Orientation

• Orientation starts every Monday
• Weekend shifts: minimum 3 per 4-week schedule (flexible coverage)

Additional Information

• Support staff available on unit includes Respiratory Therapist (24/7), OB scrub tech, Patient Care Technicians, and Health Unit Secretaries
• 24/7 in-house pharmacy available
• Nurse manager may occasionally see patients
• Start date: ASAP
