4N Ortho-Neuro RN

Overview

• 13-week assignment in Parkersburg, West Virginia
• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit

• 4N Ortho - Neuro (1033)
• 33 beds, all private rooms
• Ratio: 1 to 6

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• WV or compact RN license
• Experience with ortho patients
• Experience with PCA pumps
• EPIC experience
• Unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license must be included with submittal

Patient Population

• Elective surgeries: hips, knees, shoulders
• Fractures from falls
• Back and neck neuro-surgeries
• General MedSurg

Clinical Details

• No titrating drips required
• Common titratable/set-rate support includes IV fluids and PCA pumps
• No heparin or other drips
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Patient care techs support the unit
• RT support available for Cpap, Bipap, and High Flow
• Remote tele may be used if needed; RN does not read strips

Scheduling

• Every-other-weekend required
• Holidays may be required based on unit needs
• Travelers may be called off for low census
• Block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs are met

Floating

• Travelers are first to float
• Floating is required to any MedSurg units
• If floated to Tele, patients will be assigned within skillset

Orientation

• 1 day of EPIC orientation
• 1 day on the floor with a preceptor
• Independent on the 3rd day

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• Scrub jackets are allowed only if they are actual scrub jackets and royal blue
• Hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed
