Emergency Room RN

Overview

• 13-week travel assignment in Bristol, Connecticut.
• 12-hour evening shifts, typically 11a-11p, 3p-3a, or 7p-7a.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
• No call or standby requirement.
• Travelers do not float.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of ER experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• ED experience is a must.
• Current CT licensure, or willingness to apply for a temporary permit.

Preferred

• Some travel nursing experience.
• PALS certification.

Unit Details

• 25-bed ER with a fast track and separate triage area.
• ER holds are managed in the same area.
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms are available.
• Security is in-house 24/7.
• Average volume is about 100 patients per day.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5.
• The ER is not a trauma center, does not have a cath lab on site, and is not a stroke center.
• Nurses draw labs and perform breathing treatments.
• RT support is available for vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow.
• No monitor techs; the charge nurse monitors telemetry.
• Transport is located right outside the ER.
• Navy blue scrubs required.

Orientation

• 1 day of hospital orientation plus 3 days on the floor with an RN.
