Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and a CT or compact RN license.
Details
- Level I Trauma Center ED in a short-term acute care hospital setting
- General ED serving combined adult/pediatric population
- Average patient ratios of 1:6 on both day and night shifts
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Required to work every other weekend
- Crosstraining and floating to other campuses and ED observation units required within scope
- Assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses
- Travelers will not be assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- No on-call requirements
- Epic charting system used
- Open to block scheduling
Requirements
- Active or pending CT RN license (Compact accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- NIHSS, PALS, ENPC, and CPI certifications preferred
- 2 years of ED experience required, though 1.5 years from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience will be considered
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred, especially from a facility with 500+ beds, inner-city/urban location, and an ED larger than 60 beds
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- 1 professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
Additional Information
- Level I Trauma Center at a large academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
- Responsibilities include managing shock/trauma cases, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and IV therapy
- Experience with psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior may be required
- Neurological care experience including CVA, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury may be needed
- Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and ABG interpretation preferred
- Travelers may be obligated to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
- First-time travelers are accepted
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require manager approval
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
- Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
- Longer contract lengths between 13-26 weeks will be considered
