Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in Labor & Delivery.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies evidence-based practice and supports education within a Practice Governance framework.
- Provides mentoring and precepting to staff.
- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent decisions.
- Initiate, prioritize, and implement plans of care; collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Communicate effectively and participate in unit goal development and performance improvement.
- Recognize complex patient data to determine care priorities.
- Address physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, cultural, and ethnic needs in care planning.
- Anticipate discharge needs and support family advocacy.
- Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Acute Care experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
