Occupational Therapist - Acute Therapy

- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Summary
- Evaluate and treat patients of all ages.
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
- Design and adjust individualized plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers.
- Perform examinations and screenings to determine therapy needs and effectiveness.
- Use and supervise support personnel according to legal and ethical standards.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, patient responses, and outcomes in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation.
- Provide supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) and rehabilitation technicians.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities
- Perform patient transfers safely with assistance as needed.
- Demonstrate safe body mechanics to reduce injury risk.
- Utilize standardized outcome measures to assess functional performance.
- Modify treatment approaches based on patient behavior and progress.
- Communicate clearly regarding patient status, transfer recommendations, discharge planning, and equipment needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Illinois
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
