Registered Nurse - Advanced Care
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the scope of service in the unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to advanced care nursing practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support the healthcare team.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including private discussions when necessary.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and collaborate to expand professional knowledge.
- Identify personal learning needs and take initiative for professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
- Monitor patients 24/7 for seizure activity.
- Utilize meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and whiteboards to enhance communication with patients and families.
- Collaborate with critical care teams and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of neurology experience, with neurology experience within the last year.
- Experience in an Acute Care setting.
- Experience in Trauma care.
- Experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
