Registered Nurse (ER) – Night Shift

Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Unit: Emergency Room (ER) / Emergency Department (ED)
• Trauma Level: Level 3 Trauma Center
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER (no separate holding area)
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• Average patient volume: ~25 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7, performing breathing treatments and ABGs
• No monitor techs; RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
• Phlebotomy: RNs will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Tech support available for unit secretary duties, nurse assistance, and triage

Schedule & Orientation

• Shift: Nights
• Shift length: 12 hours
• Weekly hours: 36
• Scheduling: Leadership assigns schedule based on unit needs (no self-scheduling)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Floating: Required within regional ERs
• Orientation: 2-3 days, unit/department specific, includes night shifts every other week
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Current RN license for Colorado
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• PALS
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Common Patient Diagnoses & Treatments

• Abdominal pain, diabetes mellitus, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, hypertension
• Common drips: standard ER medications

Additional Notes

• Candidate interview process includes interview with clinical team only (no unit manager involvement)
• Must submit driver’s license; radius requirement: within 60 miles
• Clinicians must be physically present in-state for the week of orientation, even if some modules are remote
