Interventional Radiology RN - Phoenix, Arizona

Job Overview

  • Travel assignment for experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) nurses
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Facility: Large hospital with Level I Trauma designation
  • Shift options:
    • 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, either 07:00-17:30 or 07:30-18:00 (based on shift need)
    • Alternatively, 9-hour shifts, 07:30-17:00 Monday-Friday with a day off during the week (36 hours/week)
  • Occasional Saturdays required (1-2 per month), possible holiday shifts if needed
  • No call required for RN in body IR area; call shifts average 4-5 per month if working 4x10s schedule

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Active Arizona RN license
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred if possible
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • IR RN preferred; ICU RN with IR experience will be considered

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Work in Radiology Pre and Post Procedural areas
  • Pre-op and PACU experience required; ICU experience beneficial
  • Care for patients post conscious sedation and general anesthesia
  • Focus on body IR cases only (no neuro endovascular RN responsibilities)
  • Common procedures include:
    • Body IR: chemoembolization, Y-90, GJ tubes, IVC filters, vascular access, angiograms, CT biopsies, ablations, ultrasound biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis
    • Neuro endovascular and stroke treatment cases present but RN not assigned there

Work Environment & Support

  • 5 Angio rooms, 2 CT scanners, ultrasound, nuclear medicine available
  • EMR system: Cerner
  • Charge nurse role available
  • Support staff includes IR techs, CT techs, nuclear medicine techs, and ultrasound techs
  • Hospitalist or intensivist in-house
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7
  • Pharmacy available 24/7
  • IV team support (VAT for PICC lines, SWAT for difficult IV starts)
  • Scrubs provided

Orientation & Additional Notes

  • Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
  • Patient population: outpatient and inpatient, critical care, telemetry
  • Telemetry and ventilator experience required
  • RN will not be assigned to neuro endovascular area
  • No overnight call required for body IR RN
