Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Services

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan and implement patient and family education.
  • Assess patient needs and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provide leadership and contribute to professional development within the nursing practice.
  • Integrate ethical standards and research findings into nursing care.

Work Schedule

  • Primarily night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week).
  • Variable schedule including weekdays and weekends.
  • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including after-hours shifts.
  • On-call availability may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outpatient clinic settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect comprehensive patient data and analyze to determine diagnoses or issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care with expected outcomes.
  • Promote health and safety in the care environment.
  • Continuously improve nursing practice quality and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate own nursing practice against professional standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Handle challenging and emotionally charged situations with tact and discretion.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., patients, equipment).
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods (8+ hours).
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, medications, and infectious diseases.
  • Perform repetitive tasks as needed.

Additional Information

  • Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
  • The facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances.
