Job Overview

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• 2-3 completed travel assignments
• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• CPI
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• 27 beds
• Typical staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2–3 medics on both day and night shifts
• Patient ratio: 4–6:1
• No floating
• No on-call

Preferred Experience

• High-acuity, fast-paced, high-volume emergency department experience
• Experience working with 5:1 patient ratios

Common Procedures

• RSI
• Sepsis interventions
• Stroke protocol with tPA administration
• Central line placement
• Care of psychiatric patients
• Transfers to other facilities under EMTALA

Schedule

• Four weekend shifts in a four-week scheduling period
• Weekend definition varies by shift: Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white scrubs
