Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department

Location: Jourdanton, Texas (approx. 45 minutes from San Antonio)
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Details

• Unit: Emergency Department (ER)
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend Schedule: Rotating weekends
• Call Requirements: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Number of Beds: 11
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Floating: Required as needed (all travelers must float)
• Scheduling: Initially self-scheduled by staff; agency may offer availability but final schedule determined by director

Required Qualifications

• License: Active Texas RN License (temporary licenses NOT accepted)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• Experience: Minimum 2.5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience (highest required years of experience)
• Skills:

  • Excellent time management
  • Proficiency in ESI triage, splinting, STEMI and Stroke protocols
  • Experience assisting with chest tubes, central lines, and lumbar punctures

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Meditech electronic documentation system (EDM)

Patient Care & Communication

• Familiarity with AIDET communication framework
• Use of communication boards
• Aim for patient satisfaction at or above the 75th percentile

Dress Code & Appearance

• Scrubs: Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
• Nails: Clean and healthy
• Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
• Facial Hair: Clean and neatly trimmed
• Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; exceptions addressed individually
• Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; other visible piercings prohibited

Additional Notes

• Floating policy applies to all travelers
• Unit staffing varies by shift, with multiple RNs and ER techs on duty

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required for this position

This role is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable working rotating night shifts with floating responsibilities.
